Phobia of Writing New Blog Posts
As bloggers we write with only one thing in mind; to meet the expectations of our readers. When the visitors subscribe to your blog, that is because they find your content helpful and they don’t mind to read more. So, you need to provide what they require from you.
Unfortunately, coming with an idea of a blog post is not the only problem that prevents us to publish on a regular basis. Fear of getting bad reactions from the readers can prevents us to over criticize our own articles. And in some cases, we stop writing.
Providing same quality in regular basis can be overwhelming. That may even result in phobia to create new blog posts. Because, you need to keep up the standards, you need to provide a content that is as good as the previous one, and you need to make your readers to stay as your readers, because you don’t want to lose them.
So, how can you overcome the phobia of writing new blog posts?
Not writing is worse than writing posts that get negative reaction from your readers.
Practice makes us better. More we write and more we get bad reaction from the readers, we can always use this to our advantage. Usually, a good reader always explains what they don’t like about your posts? That is the perfect way to learn from them. However, if we let our fears to prevent us to make new blog posts, we won’t have the opportunity to learn from our mistakes.
Allow your readers to speak up
So, don’t be that person, who only likes to hear good phrases from people. Always be open to constructive criticism. Allow your readers to say what they really want to say. If they don’t like your article and if they can openly let you know about it (of course in a certain manner), that will also make them feel as part of your community. In fact that will make them feel very important part of your community.
Imagine a community (either online or offline), where you are right all the time and you don’t care about what others say. You will realize very quickly that people are keeping their distance from you.
See your readers as your friends not your customers
It is always easier when our family and friends are around. We don’t really care about making mistakes. Because, we know for a fact that they will let us know if we do something wrong. Unfortunately, customers won’t always let you know about their problems with your products or services. They simply stop coming. As they don’t tell you what made them annoyed, you won’t get the chance to correct your mistakes.
So, if you start seeing your readers as your friends, you will be more brave and confident on what you write and what you publish on your blog.
There might be a blog post that leads your visitors to subscribe to your blog. On the other hand there might be another post that would make the same readers to unsubscribe. All you need to remember is, you can’t make everyone happy and there might be days where your blog posts may not be as good as the ones you published before. But you shouldn’t let the reactions of your readers to intimidate you to stop writing. Just keep doing it. Learn from your mistakes and learn from your readers.
Discussion
Do you get intimidated from your readers? Do your readers’ expectations prevent you to write more blog posts? How do you deal with it?

Cool article! :D Made an enjoyable read and is certainly an interesting point.
I do agree that you shouldn’t be scared of negative comments. You learn more from making mistakes than by being perfect.

A negative comment is not necessarily a mistake on your part. ;)

Ah, very true Dennis! Sometimes people just pick on you for no reason; most the time these people won’t even leave their real name, so it’s best to either just ignore it, or deal with them in a positive way and make yourself look BETTER! :D

You see if people make negative feedback with out giving explenation, in my book that is called “Being Silly”.
For instance “I don’t agree with you.” is a comment that provides no feedback and no input.
“I don’t agree with you, because …” is a comment, which I would pay attention to.
There are some people out there, they just leave negative commnet, just for the sake of putting you off. You should completly ignore it. And even don’t publish it as comments on your blog. Because, there is always reason why you don’t like something. If you can’t be decent enough to provide that reason, then I am not interested with that negativity.
I have always been advocating about thinking about readers as friends and liking readers. It is the only way to get personal relationships with readers and get them really to be interested in your site and products.

Readers as friends. :) That’s nice. Since I’ve been using Twitter, I really feel like that. We all interact with each other, and read and comment on each other’s blogs. It’s an awesome thing, and I wish I had gotten into Twitter a long time ago.
I just wrote a post on how we need to not be afraid to take risks in life. If we all stand around like a bunch of sheeple waiting for what everyone else is going to do, we can never be great for who we are in ourselves. We have to get out of our box and plug in.

You have to accept that everyone has their own opinions.
I think it is great to have people who think different to me, it creates debate and can lead to ideas for future blog posts.

Oh yes. You are absolutley right. However, sometimes readers scared to put their view accross. For instance if they don’t agree with something, they simply don’t say it. As I always say here, I always welcome opposite views here. That makes me correct my mistakes and let me become better blogger.
By the way lucifer, please try not to shorten your words. I can understand that a lot of people can understand what you are saying, but some may not.

I will sort all those out this week Deepika. My about page is almost done. I just don’t want to rush things at the moment :)
After reading this, I consider myself lucky. I have a rather large backlog of post drafts to choose from, and never care about being criticized…I think my readers appreciate this as it shows through.

To say exactly, I never start writing to match the expectations of others. I wish to match my expectations and get more out of it. This can make users understand what I am good at and what I can deliver to them.
They start to expect these from me and thereby they match mine ;)
